About 2 wks ago I left the lids open on my Oscar tank while I checked on my other tanks before bed. I heard a splash and thud and I knew what had happened. My 9" tiger Oscar had jumped out . He was pretty banged up, fins, scales missing, etc... He has since healed up, but he has not been himself lately. He won't eat and just shadows my larger Oscar. This is the first time this has happened. Any suggestions ?

I hope he's pooped and all the turds I'm cleaning out isn't coming from 1 Oscar. He is starting to attack his plants and move them around but still looks like he has nothing to live for at times. I can touch him with the net when I scoop out leftovers when he usually avoids it. No sign of HITH. He is swimming good and picking at the other Oscar, but he still won't eat.

how big is the tank? i had similar problems when i tried to keep 3 Os in a 55 gal once. they would fight and the weakest would get forced out eventually. looks like your tank is a bit bigger than that though.

225 gal ... Just him and a 12" albino tiger

yeah thats a nice size tank for a couple Os. i would just say aggression from the other oscar causing his change in attitude.

Os can be crafty. i had another pair (this time in a 75) that would both seem happy when i was feeding them. but whenever i left the room the larger red would viciously assail the smaller tiger. eventually killed him.

He's usually the one causing trouble wanting to pick on the bigger O cause the 12" is a female. I might pick up a few feeders this evening and see if he responds to them.
