Oscar question

Ok I've had my oscar for about 2 years now and I'm not sure if it is male or female. Is there anyway to figure this out? And also is it possible to add more oscars to my tank with out him kiling the new ones? Do u think if I get ones that are about his same size he won't try to eat them?

theres no way of visually sexing them, what size is your tank?

he's right, oscars are impossible to sex vissually,
you could vent them though

he's in a 55 with one small demosey and one small convict. What's venting?

You can't add another Oscar if you tank size is only 55 gals. It's to small, some would argue that even one is to small for a 55 gal.

Yeah I'm definately gonna need to get him a bigger tank. What size should i get for 3 9-10 inch oscars?

I would say at least a 150 gals for three of them plus really good filtration and large weekly water changes.

Yeah i already do large water changes weekly. These guys can make their tank really dirty really fast. Its really amazing how gross they can be but I love their personailty that's why I would like to get more. Mine even like to watch the t.v. When i'm watching shows about the ocean. Its quite funny to see.

i have my trio in a 150 tall..its definitely big enough
