I'm planning to get my oscars a 100G tank and I was wondering what would be the best way to make their "natural" habitat. I was thinking about some driftwood and gravel to start off with but I'd like to get ideas from other oscar owners. I'd like to see how everyone else's tanks look like. :)

so tour looking for a natural biotype. meaning what it looks like where they live in the wild. i would go woth sand or fine gravel, driftwood, dim lights, shadows, big fake plants.

I would do exactly that minus the fake plants, I think their ugly :) , plus a lot of oscars will uproot them, especially a pair.

some nice big driftwood, fine gravel or sand,id use sand,a few nice size live plants just put some rocks around the plants bottom so they cant be uprooted

Yeah pretty much what I had in mind but didn't know about the sand. I really liked Nutty's aquarium... alas my husband and I live in an apartment right now and don't have the room for 300G even though we'd LOVE to. I guess we can small-scale it. I tried the whole fake plant thing and I just thoroughly enjoyed planting them back in pretty much every hour so I guess I'll bypass that one. Thanks guys though just need to wait for the $$$ to come in and a trip to the pet store we go.

I really want to set up a natraul ish tank for my Oscar when i get my larger tank for him , natraul/ Biotypes look amazing when done correct IMO .

I have large rock in mine, I do love sand though..it's what I have in my other tanks, but this one has a RUGF in it so I didn't want sand...lots of driftwood, I was planning to add some java moss and or fern to my driftwood, haven't yet...but I agree with above it would look very nice.

This is what mine looks like, I'm not completely happy with it right now!!

Looks pretty cool! How big is your tank? Have you had plants in your tank before? Mine constantly "rearrange" them so I stopped... they've ripped them to shreds on occasion.
