My oscar seems to have weak scales. What I mean is they often times get knocked off or scraped the wrong way very easily resulting in white marks on him. Does anyone else notice this? I feed my oscar well and he's pretty healthy, but he has a little bit of hith which I'm taking care of.

they are clumsy fish mine seem to run into anything and everything in the tank causing that to happen from time to time but they do seem to heal quickly. I wouldn't worry too much about it if they heal quickly.

They heal quickly, but he wasn't even swimming fast into the object he rubbed on. He was swimming backwards, maybe that's why the scales were peeled back so easily?

my red oscar does this he constantly runs into the driftwood in the tank. he heals quickly though. If your oscars wounds don't linger I wouldn't worry about it. and yeah going backwards doesn't help lol.

My big boy scrapes himself every now and again. I agree with the others. If it doesnt linger and heals quickly you should have nothing to worry about.
However, if it is a larger or deeper scrape sometimes it is beneficial to use Melafix, but only as a last resort. They should heal naturally and quickly without the use of meds.

I see you have a separator in the tank.. what else is your oscar in there with?

I took it out... He hoped over the separator and didn't eat the fish so I geuess I didn't need it :p
Now he's with a firemouth and a texas after I moved the smaller fish on the other side.
