Oscar scattering food

I feed my fully grown Oscar Hikari floating carnivore sticks. He rushes at them like a rabid caveman, eating a few, and scattering the rest across the tank. Once that happens, he ignores them, and I have to spend 2min trying to net them out.

Would it be a good idea to fast him for a day or two so he is more likely to scavenge for the 50% he leaves floating?

How often do you feed?
Every day? Once per day, more than once?
Do you regularly skip a day?
An example.....I feed adult cichlids, a small amount once per day for 2 days, I then skip a day (sometimes 2).
I believe this is why my cichlids never waste anything.
In nature, an adult may get one meal (one insect, or crustacean) per day,
And then may go without for a day or 2 or even more.

If he is adult size, he will be absolutely fine skipping a meal or two. Heavy feeding daily is usually reserved for the first year or two of fast growth. After that, nutrient density and quantity of food can be reduced without significant impact.
