So my Oscar recently got a new tank after being in my 110 gallon for about a week. It’s a marbled bichir. For context the Oscar is probably 4 inches and the bichir around 8. He seems to follow it around constantly and sit with it where ever it is. There’s no aggression involved, never nipped or done anything just likes to be around him. Has anyone ever had their Oscar seem to “connect” with another fish.

I think so. My Oscar and my EBJD "grew up" together and are buds. The now larger Oscar would actually seem to protect the smaller EBJD from our Pike. The Oscar and EBJD would sleep next to one another.

Unfortunately I recently had to move the Oscar to his own tank so they are separated. Kinda sad.

One of the cool things about Oscar’s are their personalities and high intelligence compared to most other fish. I suspect your Oscar feels safe and comfortable being in the company of a huge and tough (in the Oscar’s mind) Bircher who the Oscar knows will not attack him.
