I have a 6 inch oscar in my 75gal, and i wanted a senegal bichir and a leopard ctenopoma to go with him. Today I went and got them (pretty nice petsmart up here) but they were too small to go with my o, so I put them in my 20gal with some other little fish.
Would they all get along if I grew out the bichir and ctenopoma?
How long would it be to grow them so a suitable length?(bichir about 3 inches, ctenopoma 1 inch):confused:
And finally should I instead sell my oscar to my lfs and get some other fish like a black knife?:confused::confused:
I really cant decide whether to sell my oscar or try to get these fish to a suitable size. Help would be appreciated :)

btw theres a baby black knife thats about 3 inches in the bichir tank at petsmart, and it looks like it would go perfectly with these guys.

I have a 10" ornate with my oscar (he's around 7-8" so far) and they are fine together. If the sen was large enough that it definitely could not become food for the oscar, it could work-not sure about the ctenopoma though. Your problem will be starting with a small sen and trying to grow it up to go with an oscar. When I got my oscar at about 4", the ornate was already like 8"

I think the bichir got hungry. I have about ten baby fish(less than half an inch each) from a local river in with it.My molly darted across the gravel, and a severed head from one of the baby fish floated up. :ROFL:It was cleanly cut, and no innards were hanging out or anything. I guess it got adventorous and went over by the bichir. I cant wait till it gets bigger :D

Either my bichir is really hungry, or has bad aim. I found another corpse still twitching missing its tail. Im starting to think the cold blooded killer is the cute and innocent ctenopoma
