My Oscar (Fugly) manged to break through her divider and get her butt kicked by my larger male red devil. She seems alert (responds and ties to move away from my hand) but is obviously in pain. What can I do to give her the best chance at survival??? I refuse to euthanize her in her current state, she's too aware and balanced.

I'm willing to do anything to save this fish!!!

Help!

Just keep the water extreamly clean and add 1 tablespoon of salt per five gallons of water. When you do a water change add enough salt to replace the amount removed. She is badly skinned.

Exactly this. And just to add, keep her in the water. You don't want to cause further stress

Should I add any antibacterial or anti fungal? Maybe melafix as a preventative? I'll be separating her into a hospital tank.
Also, aquarium salt or marine salt? Since they have different compounds...

If you keep the water clean and use AQUARIUM salt you shouldn't need meds. Time will tell if she can recover. If she developes fungas then use somthing like Tetra Fungas Guard or API Fungas Cure. If you do daily water changes and keep the salt level where it sould she should recover.

She was in bad shape, I'm totally surprised. You tried, that's all you could do? Sorry you lost her.
