How large does an oscar have to be to tell what sex they are? Or is there no real difference between male and female?

you cant really sex oscars until they are breeding and their tubes drop, they are notoriously hard to sex, there are no real differences in size or color between the two
Ok well I guess I just keep on having know idea what my oscar is then. Maybe later when I can get a larger tank and another oscar I'll find out. Thank you
