Not always. The Oscar needs to be sexually mature. Usually 1 year plus and over 8". Then they can be vented. Otherwise they just look male. As far as I was concerned

No, It's not always reliable with Oscars. Because I have 4 Oscars, 2Males, And 2 females, 10 -14", And they all look the same.
