Two of my Oscars have seemed to have paired off and I am just wondering how to sex them, I know there is no proven way to visually tell without them dropping their tubes. Which brings me to my question, do only females drop tubes to lay the eggs or do males have to drop tubes as well to fertilise the eggs? The Oscar I have always assumed to be male has tubes hanging out so this is why I ask, could it still be male or was I wrong?
