My piranhas staple food is shrimp and I have started feeding it to my Tiger Oscar. Is this okay for Oscars. I do not see why it would not be but I was just making sure. Thanks.

Oh it's OK alright, they love it. Your oscar should show some growth with this and people tell me the shrimp boosts their color, but I can't confirm that firsthand.

okay well I will feed him shrimp for awhile and tell you the outcome on the color enhancement

make sure you mix up the "O's" diet. mix it with shrimp, pellets, and veggie pellets. the color come out GREAT, and provents HITH.

Yea, mix it up. If you feed too much shrimp and not enough of the other foods it can interfere with their Vitamin B. Mussels, crayfish....that's a part of their everyday diet in the wild and can be fed every single day and they'll do great on it. Krill is actually what gives them good color. But that should'nt be fed every day either for the same reason as shrimp.
Man, I wish I could find a safe source of live crayfish, I'm too worried about parasites. My Oscars would love that!

It's fine, my Oscars (and some other fish) absolutely love market shrimp.

my O and pike both love market shrimp. just have to make sure O's get veggies too so they dont get hole in head disease theres an albino at my lfs with hole in head and i feel so bad for it. if someone would have taken better care of it, it would be living alot better life. instead of spending the rest of its days in a 30gallon holding cell. ive been talking to the owner to try to get him to let me have him so it can live out the rest of its days in my pond.
