Had a new baby O for about a week now, just back from the cinema and he's bouncing around the tank; bumping into things and now lying on the gravel.

Going to be so pissed if its parasites again, 95% of Oscars I get have parasites.

What size tank is he in? and did you test water parameters? Why are they getting parasites? Bad store you're buying them from?

92 gallon, 50% changes a week just now. Looked fine in store, I have bad luck with these things; he looks emaciated grrr

I would do an Epsom salt treatment in the water and raise the temps a tad. Do more frequent smaller water changes for the next week, maybe 10-20% every other day. Try something like NLS thera a for feeding. Not sure if you do or not, but do not feed feeder fish as they frequently contain parasites. If he survives look into a uv sterilizer as it may prevent future parasite issues (though it will do nothing for an infected fish).

Good shout. I never use feeders, I dosed regular salt the other day, but if he is still crappy tomorrow then I'll probably isolate him. Perhaps I'm just destined never to successfully keep Oscars haha

LOL, probably just a bad source you got him from. I can't imagine why he'd be sick but no other fish in the tank. Good luck with him.

Cheers, its been strange the last few times with parasites; my convict had them, and other Oscars. All other tank inhabitants were unaffected. Will update on him for sure though bro
