hey everyone I recently purchased a lemon oscar from a store at about 2.5" I noticed where they poop they were all swollen or further extended so I figured the local pet store wasn't feeding them enough or the right food. I've had the fish now for a week feeding it north fin cichlid formula pellets n frozen brine shrimp n northfin spirlina pellets. I'm not sure what this is but my other small oscar don't have this I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if so what was solution to have everything go back to normal??

Sorry for the blurry pic so hard to get a pic as it won't stop moving. But u can see how it's a lump n not flat underneath but a bulge toward the anus area.. a friend of mine said could be a hernia but didn't think fish could get that

Did you figure out what this was? I have an Oscar that seems to have something similar on his anus. Not sure what to do. Any suggestion? See pictures attached.

Hi did you happen to find out what this one was? I have a same/similar issue. It's definitely not like the parasite, its like the 1st one so curious to see what yours was. I can post pics, but its pretty much identical to the first pice in this post.

Mine is a new bought from reputable store. I bought 3 oscars and only 1 has this issue that I didn't notice until after 2-3 hours after bringing home. It seems to come and go a little - but never quite completely goes away. Guys at the store said it could. be a blockage but that should pass, and that it could always be parasites. My guys appetite is super strong and the fish is very active and seems healthy, just this bulge that the other 2 do not have. Thanks!

Welcome aboard

Most Oscar’s are captive bred so some will have defects and other genetic issues.
