Would anyone reccommend taking a mature 10" Oscar and then adding to the tank a smaller say 5" Oscar??
I would think the 5" Oscar would be too big for him to eat.
Tank is 100 gal and has nothing else in it besides the larger Oscar.

I don't think he'd eat them, but he'd definitely beat them up.

Once they were in smaller pieces, THEN he'd eat them.

should be alright. if you do, monitor the fish and see if they start to fight, if they do....rearange the tank.

Ya, from my experience, watch for beating up---actually, preliminary signs to aggression. Otherwise, you'll wake up to the smaller kid being really beaten up or dead.

Theyll be fine as everyone said, I had a 7 inch oscar with two 1 inch oscars and i never saw any aggression

Be sure to rearrange the tank. The oscar with the already established tank might not like sharing.Size doesn't matter as much, what matters more is that the tank belongs to your first oscar.

You will most likley have the same problems with any other fish you get. The problem is that the oscr is territorial and does not want anybody using up his space.

I tried this and wound up taking the smaller Oscar back to the LFS within the hour.

My large (8") Oscar had always acted very gentle with his Silver Dollar and Pleco tank mates, so I thought another Oscar would work with him, but he continuously chased and banged on the small Oscar until I could get him out of the tank.

Of course all fish are not the same.

Good luck!

Than you had a weird oscar. Just because it worked once doesnt mean it will work again. I think its a bad idea. Some oscars and calm and peaceful and some are not. I would only put in a comparable sized oscar or other semi aggro fish. Otherwise your just asking for trouble :nilly:
