I have a 125 gallon tank with a Oscar and a african cichlid and the Oscar is not liking him. Would it help if I got a other fish maybe try to break it up. Our get rid of the african and get something else.

Whats the other chiclid in the tank with your O though? Hard to give you any ideas if we dont know what hes housed with or how hes getting beaten up?

All I know it is a african cichlid. And the Oscar is just chasing him ask around with mouth open biting and ramming

Convicts are usually hearty enough to defend themselves. But that also depends on the size. I've kept those , featherfin catfish and Florida spotted gar with no problems what so ever.

That fish I sent a picture of is a convict?

It is not a convict but I can not id it sorry I'm sure someone can though. I don't think keeping Africans of any kind is a good idea ideally with a oscar, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

A lot of people frown upon mixing African and south American cichlids, because of their different water requirements and aggression levels. Who was in the tank first? It could be easy as a very good cleaning and rearranging of any decor, thereby setting up new territories (best case) or getting rid of one of the fish (worst case). Mind you this is just my opinion based on reading I have done in my short time here, so better answers may come about tomorrow.
