I currently have a 110 gallon with fancy goldfish. I’m in the process of setting up an outdoor pond for them and will hopefully be moving them in the spring. For now, I’m researching what I want to add to the 110 gallon tank. I’m definitely going to get an oscar, but what else can I add with them?

I don’t have another large tank that I can separate aggressive fish, so I’m hesitant to get another large cichlid. I’ve read lots of stories of large cichlids being fine together their whole lives and then suddenly attacking or killing their tank mates.

Tank dimensions are 48” long, 18” deep, 30” tall. It currently has 2 sunsun canister filters that each do 525gph, and an Emperor 400 HOB filter.

Fish I’ve been looking into:
Silver dollars
Pleco
Another Oscar
Jack Dempsey
Sevrum

pleco should be fine I can't see an Oscar doing much against a large pleco, just put some big driftwood in there and the Oscar probably won't even be able to find him. ive personally never had an Oscar, but ive seen from other forums that they should realistically be kept in a 150 gallon+. I can't say that for a fact, but wait for one of the higherups to respond

I would not get an Oscar for a tank with a foot print of 48 x 18. Honestly I’d say the minimum should be a 72 x 18 with 72 x 24 being better. If you are dead set on getting an Oscar and a tank mate then I’d go with a pleco. Not a common pleco, something about in the 6”-8” range.
