oscar tank mates

Water.

other than that, it depends on the size of the tank and temperament of the oscar. Also, what look are you going for? Lots of activity or something to compliment the oscars slow dopey style?

what size tank? In 6'+ good tankmates can be other laid back south american cichlids like severums, chocolates, blue acaras for example

oka thanks for the help as far as i knew anything that was to big to be food is good! i have a 55 now im just doing some research for the future

chocolate cichlids are cool. You should get one to keep the Oscar company.

i agree with the chocolate cichlid idea. they can get to be a good size, but just like an oscar, their extremely lazy. just big, slow swimming lumps, that look beautiful.

ive had one, and see 2 large ones often at the LFS, and they all act the same. very nice fish :)

best description I've ever heard of chocolates, but they are ideal tankmates, and if you want some more color go with a quaility rotkeil severum as well

If you ever get a tank thats atleast 6ft...tinfoil barbs make excellent Oscar companions. They are more active and their activity often times I guess inspires(lack of better term) the Oscar do do more than float around :)

Be sure and keep a good eye on those nitrates in a 55 with an Oscar. Especially when he gets to the 8"+ range.
