Hey guys
I'm setting up a 75g oscar tank and I was wondering about tank mates
2 species I've been looking at are black ghost knives and silver/bala sharks
If those 2 aren't compatable then what other species would you recommend
Thank you very much

Bg knives gets to 18" and not great at competing for food with a greedy Oscar. Bala sharks get big as well

justarn justarn has big tetras that i can't remember the name of

I would say just the oscar for the 75 gallon tank. In a years time it will fill the space and biological capacity of the tank.

If anything perhaps a raphael cat that already has some good size to it. If its too small a hungry growing oscar will try to eat it.

If you are diligent at water changes it’s possoble but when water quality slips it will slip fast.
Not ideal but I had an O (~12”) in my first 75, 15 yrs ago.
The setup was together from my sophomore yr of college until a few yrs after I graduated.
I had a single clown loach, pair of cons, syno erupterus, BN pleco and half a dozen comets that lived- also a 10” Lin shovelnose.

I did 50% water changes 2x per week? Refilled the tank with RO.

Never had while in head or ich.
Granted my roommates and I were all in the college of natural resources, one of which was a fisheries major.

Not ideal but 100% possible

I've got 6 spanner barbs with my oscar plus a gaggle of others in the 300.

Just keep in mind if you do put something else in with your Oscar he will be most likely be aggressive with whatever you put in the tank. Bala sharks can get up to 14 inches i've seen some massive ones at my LFS id avoid getting those, also they do best in threes.
