What are some different Cichlid species that would do good with a large-ish group of Oscars? I want to get something to go with them in their future adult tank, which will hopefully be a 300 gallon stock tank. Red Terrors are really cool looking to me, but I've heard some stuff about how aggressive they can be. Are there any species that would do good with Oscars?

I forgot to put this, but the other fish in the tank are two Common Plecos and two Sun Catfish. But, I might move the Sun Cats into another tank eventually.

Smaller species would do perfect - Firemouths, JD's, Severums, stuff along those lines.

Oscars won't back down from a fight, but they get beat up as a result by more aggressive fish, such as festae, jags, etc.

But, it all depends on each individual Oscar. You may even have a bad oscar who kills the others.

Personally - I would stick with just oscars, maybe 4 of them, and a couple of peaceful catfish, and some dithers, such as large barbs, silver dollars, and maybe a gar for the top.

If u search for biotope/SA cichlids you will find more ideas.I would try to stick to SA cichlids, but I have not kept oscars.I know others have had success with mixed tanks.I think severums, acaras would work.common plecos get pretty big.your filter is up to the task of more fish?

Firemouths and Convict, and are very good smaller cichlid tank mates for oscars. If you are getting a 300 gallon throw in like 7 or more silver dollars as dithers. If you have dithers you could maybe add some medium sized cichlids (Green terror, jack Dempsey, ) to prevent fights. If you want a south american biotope in a 300 gallon, I would do 1 or 2 Oscars, green terrors, a bunch of silver dollars, sevrums, maybe some kind of small to medium catfish, such as a pictus, or feather fin. But I would choose cat fish with caution because Oscars are pigs and will try to swallow anything, and a lot of catfish have spines to prevent from getting swallowed. But it's up to you on what you want with your Oscars. In a 300 gallons you possibilities are near endless.

Currently the filter is not up for more fish, the tank they're in right now is pretty much stocked to the max. I'm talking about adding fish when they get upgraded to their adult tank.

I'm really liking the idea of the Jack Dempseys, I might go with one or two of them, maybe the Electric Blue ones, with some convicts when I set up the 300 gallon.

I kept Severums, Convicts, Firemouths, BR Parrots, Salvini, Jacks with Oscars without an issue. They often got the piss beat out of them by my breeding pair of Cons.
