Oscar thermometer

So Scarface broke his first thermometer yesterday (hanging glass one) while "hunting". Proud papa here, surely there are more to be broken in the future

This a regular thing for your larger cichlids too?

my oscar broke the heater. I never put a thermometer in with him, the stick ons were all the rage when I had him.

lol i lost like 3 heaters and finnaly figured out i needed a sump

I use a titanium heater and a temperature probe (not the glass/suction cup things). Voila.....No glass to be broken.

Just surround the heater in a drilled pvc pipe (larger than the heater diameter of course) which is affixed to the side of the tank. just an idea.

I've known about that, but was more talking about the breaking of glass thermometers haha

They do tend to smash and eat them

Lost a couple glass therms to my Oscar as well, won't leave the tubing alone either for the filter - keeps messing it up.

I have seen them break heaters also. Crazy fish.
