Hey guys, Lol im warning you now, this might turn out to be long.. So bare with me..

i've been trying to breed my Oscars for a very very verrry long time now.. and pretty much gave up like last year. I originally had a pair of black tiger Oscars which i'd had for 2 or 3 years and then around a year after was given a tiny albino tiger. He was greatly smaller than my two blacks but it soon caught up in the next few months that followed or maybe a good year. It had an awesome appetite (i suppose all oscars do)..
Later down the track My two black tigers always went through the motions regularly and really seemed like they were going to spawn.. They were already like 8 or 9 inch at the time.. Then i read somewhere that two female oscars can pair up and go through the motions with the absence of a male.. so i assumed that.. and got over the excitement.. ANYWAY that was like a year ago.. my oscars have well grown from then.. the two black are like 10 or 11 inch now and the albino maybe an inch smaller but seems more dominant than the two. SORRY for the life story.. ill get to my point..

Recently in the last 2 weeks or something.. i noticed one of the blacks was getting plumper.. but i took no notice cause it eats more than the other two.. NOw today i noticed her breeding tube was fully extended out for the first time that i've noticed and of coarse i got super excited.. i've never bred oscars before and always wanted to cause ive bred others and i heard oscars were difficult so i was interested in the challenge and not to mention oscar juvies are super cute haha.
I know that her partner seems to be the other black one.. they are very clsoe and affectionate to eachother.. its funny to anyone who says oscars are aggro and rah rah rah.. LOL mine are like big babies. Anyway yeah.. but they are also close to the albino and i noticed he does most of the showing off and flaring and all that and theres no like obvious closer bond between either fish. So instead i jsut moved all three to a breeding tank and am still hoping all goes well now.. BUt i noticed now the Albino and the other black one seem to be challenging eachother alot now.. while the female just sits back and watches.. To me the other two are obviously fighting for her affection or their right to spawn i suppose.. BUT yeah my question is.. If my other black tiger was female would it still bother challenging and competing with the albino.. and i do have a strong feeling the albino is male.. which leads me to another question would the female spawn with the albino who is smaller in size.. cause i can easily say his dominance says nothing for his size. BUt yeah my feelings are more like.. the other black is the original long time partner of the female and i think its jsut jealous.. hahah but maybe i just look into my oscars to much.. and you all think i'm being a weirdo who obsesses over his fish :nilly: hahaha LOL but yeah.
Also.. would or could it be harmfull just to leave all three in the tank.. Instead of figuring out which one to remove.. I feel like the three of them are very close.. could this all change if two decide to really pair up.. like if i did get a spawn would the other fish try to harm the eggs?

Sorry for the life story.. hope you enjoyed the epic read or not haha
I did warn you.
thanks for anyones feed back. Actually thanks for anyone who actually got up this part of the post LOL.

Mikey.

i think after a pair spawns take the third one out for the safety and comfort of the breeding pair

Thanks Alex, do you actually know what size oscars become fertile? Cause i was thinking about taking the other black tiger out and jsut leaving the Albino, But the only thing is the albino is a little smaller than the female.. like not by much.. like half an inch or so

Sorry no pics, but id be glad to take some i'll put them up tomorrow.
Actually a lots happened in the short amount of time. I found the black tiger oscar with a massive injury on its head, i assumed it got into a fight with the albino so i removed it and put it back into the other tank. (Although i'm starting to assume it wasn't from i fight, i have a feeling its from when it jumps up, i rekon it hit its head on the glass)
The female was like instantly depressed and the next day its tube was retracting and it wasn't eating very much and neither was my other black tiger oscar, so i played around to see what would happen and swapped the albino for black one and then everything was all better again. Her vent isn't that out much anymore but i don't really mind to much as long as everyones happy.

Oh btw can anyone help me with this. My supposed male Tiger Oscar has really bad wart/pimple looking things on its bottom lip and then one just under that, does anyone know how to fix it or if there is some medicine to help it?

Sorry for the lag, Here are the pics of the Oscars. (enjoy)

Here is when all three were still together

Sorry about the dodgy pics.. My cameras not that great,

isn't that hole in the head? i just got this stuff melafix or w/e it's a medicine that cures a bunch of stuff including hole in the head i believe...the other one no idea but doesn't look good...maybe show this pic to a lfs owner or something? i know people will laugh but no1 is responding

hi if u think its holes in the haed. it comes from lack of nutricion ; buy omega1 red, peleds. that food fix my friend's oscar from holes in the head.

Hey guys thanks for all your advice. I really don't know what to do about the weird things on its lip.. I did actually ask my lfs, and hes a mate of mine so he made a joke about just cutting it off.. but i'm not to big on home surgeries and i don't think it can do the fish any good at all.

Oh yeah also, its actually not hole in the head, its healed up really nice now. But i also heard hole in the head cant be cured? Is that true? Like it was said it can stop it from getting worse but it won't heal over?
