Oscar vs PLANTS!!

Anyone have any luck keepin oscars with live plants? any tips, tricks or hints would be GREAT!!

Floating plants are supposed to work...I'm thinking of trying hornwort.

Oscars tend to tear up anything they can, so one may destroy floating plants as well. I guess it's worth a try.

Mine at the red root floater I had. More of an accident, as it ate the pellets. Tore up all the rest.

Mine grew up with giant vallisneria, so he kinda learned it wasn't even worth trying to up root them. and after that he was fine with plants, not floaters though.

I keep mine with java fern. He hasn't touched it.

my oscars tear my plants up. after spending 30+$ a week (just one week) i just quit on it

i hae plastic, he is still attempting to destroy them, and succeeding somewhat, just at a much slower pace

Start with small oscars in a planted tank. I knew a couple that kept their oscars with angels and tetras in a planted tank! They raised them up on pellets and those guys would not eat fish. Probably the exception to the rule but it was cool.
