I have just got me a new Albino Oscar last saturdayand i got up this morning and notices that he had White spot(ick) all over his fins!! what should i do to get ride of this??? I put some Medicine in there to try to save hime This mornin.

Do as 100gal suggests. Also minimize the time you keep the aquarium lights on. The light makes it worse. Some people have had success using non-iodized salt in their tanks, I've noticed that others are very much against it. I use salt in my tank and, well, at least it hasn't caused any problems.

DON'T USE TABLE SALT!

Oscars are the worst for ich. Albinos are the worst because it is hard to spot. Take all of your carbon out of your filters. Add Coppersafe for fresh water ich. Raise the temp. And definately add salt. I tablespoon for every 10 to 15 gallons. Use aquarium salt. There is saltwater Ich and freshwater ich. All fish have ich in their body. Usually tthey can fight it so it dosen't break out. Freshwater ich can not survive in water that has any amount of salt in it. Same for saltwater ich. It can not survive in freshwater. Problem is neither can you saltwater fish. Ich is common and is usually easy to treat.

turn that temp up to 85-88degree F. and dont turn the light on unless you have too also i dont know if you have hawaiian salt up there but you can add one tablespoon per ten gallons of water to help as well. i hate using chemicals and medicines...this method worked on my oscar and my FM...good luck keep us posted.

I agree with these guys but I would say for you to add alot more salt than 1 tablespoon per 10 gal. In fact, it is fine to put up to 1/2 a cup per 10 gal. The key is heat over 83 deg.

Would regular saltwater aquarium salt work????? Dont think we have any Of that non-Iodized salt..
