I have a medium planted 55g and i would like to add a tiger oscar. is there any chance that oscar will tolerate the plants? the tank is over a year old and the plants are pretty big. so he wont be able to root them while he is young, but later on.
most likely i wont be adding any other fish, because of tank size.

The oscar will rip all all the plants up oscars love to dig, also the oscar will outgrow that tank in less than 9 months.

yea, seems like oscars are out of the game, since 55g not big enough and plants will never live.

people recomend Severums instead. is it possible?

The plants will be ripped to shreads even if they are tied down. I can't even keep artificial plants with my oscars because they like to play 'rip the leaves off, swim around and pass to each other'.

I wouldn't keep an oscar in a 55g and it will destroy plants. Been there done that and failed. Most people don't understand how fast oscars grow and how big they can get. I had a 13'' oscar in a 72g and he would knock the glass lids off the top. That 72g was way too small IMO. They are powerful fish that need A LOT of swimming space. It is cruel to keep large fish in small spaces IMO.
