Ok--my O is swimming normally, interested in food, inquisitive.. but he takes it in and spits it out..there is nothign lodged in his mouth or anything. his water params are ammonia 0ppms, nitrate 0ppms, nitrites .10ppms, ph about 6.5...this started 3 days ago

..i feed him hikari pellets, cihlid sticks and frozen krill...he always ate everything i gave him before. anyone have an idea??

Try some worms.. LIVE worms

my oscar did the same thing.....i tried feeding him other stuff but he wont take it....try prawns?shrimp?

But why would he eat it......and then just all of the sudden not take it? He loved everything I gave him before..he ate it and, as usual for oscars, begged for more.

They do get tired of eating the same things (just to fustrate us I think).

How big is it? and have you had it long?

If it's larger try the worms (clean them) like Tongue33 said. Might even try a couple small rosie reds...but you could be on the road to the darkside if he likes them...

Dr Joe

.

How big is he and how long have you had him are the key questions.
If hes older could be constipated. If you just got him some kind of infection

i have had him from a baby..he's about 9-10 inches long...in a 55 currently but a 75 very very soon. he's not very old, had him less than 3 years

not at all...he shows no signs of it whatsoever...maybe like they said...he jsut got sick of the food...i dunno.

Watch for other symptoms of illness.. Mainly HITH.. Loss of appetite is one of them.. Then the Lesions :(

have you tried the live feeding yet? Earthworms, Super worms... Crickets....!! A feeder Fish?

Feeders aren't the safest but I feed them.. But Worms and the others should do the trick if it's not an illness:)
