i won't be feeding it live food , i don't think it right doing that and it cost more. so no tankmates , i was think of getting something small to clean the tank and when i get a oscar ,i thinking of puting my weather loach with it , then when the oscar is bigger , i will put the loach back in his tank.

Nothing wrong with feeding it live food just be careful what you feed it. Steer away from beef (unless it's beef heart) and live feeder gold fishes. I feed mines night crawlers, (bought from Wal-mart cheap and BIG!) meal worms (bought from Petsmart) all sorts of veggies, crickets. But when feeding live food try not to do it on a daily basis. Cichlid pellets are your best bet.

It's nature!

Mines are about 5-6 inches. Just juveniles :nilly:

any pictures

what do you think about a weather loach with a juvenile oscar, so the weather laoch will help to clean the tank. but when the oscar grow big , i will put the loach back in his tank.

I don't know not a big fan of cleaners. I just recently got rid of my Pleco, he creates more mess than good. I suggest a good filtration system in substitute for a cleaner fish. A Blue Lobster wouldn't hurt. :)

But yeah since you're getting a 55g or a 75g for a long term try to keep the tank simple and clean with just an Oscar and something small that doesn't create a lot of bio crap. If you're just getting a 55g for now and you plan on buying a juvenile Oscar it's fine and is plenty of room for it, but I suggest you upgrade to at least 65G so you don't have to change your water like a maniac (Like I do) once the Oscar hits sexual maturity (6 months?). Remember rule of thumb is 50-50G PER Oscar (by itself).

BTW: I think the Weather Loach will get owned up real quick. Oscars have big mouths even as juveniles.

i might just buy a 65 gallon , but it cost more, so i will have wait for a long time and save some money and i think a blue lobster will take to much room and i am think of getting a thermofilter for the tank and i think i will only buy one becuase of the space , maybe in the furture , but it will be for years

Blue Lobsters are small, they aren't like Lobsters we eat at restaurants. But sooner or later the Blue Lobster will get owned up too :ROFL:Oscars eat everything and anything. :headbang2

blue lobster get around 15cm do they
bluelob2.jpg
one of these

do you realy think that you can keep blue lobster and a oscar together in a 60gal to 65 gal tank for life , and i never see them for sale and i will have get the blue lobster 1st beforce the oscar becuase there is less chance of eating it.

i could get some shrimps , so that they can breed, then the oscar could eat them and i will have lots of shrimp becasue they breed like bad and they clean the tank. do u think that a good idea and do you think it will work

That blue lobster and weather loach will make great snacks for an Oscar :D Shrimp in the same tank wont live long enough to make it to the bottom of the tank to clean anything let alone breed. Oscars are eating machines and will eat just about anything that will fit in there mouths and you'd be surprised at what they think will fit.

I doubt your floor joist are 2x4, those are used for wall studs, the min on the floor should be 2x6. If you can't see the joist anywhere in your house you can find out what the local building code is pretty easy.
