I feel like there is something wrong with my Oscar. He is not acting like he used too. he used to get real excited when i went by the tank now it's like he could care less. he is swimming around but not like he used too. He also has random "freak outs" every night. It's almost like he is having a nightmare. He swims really fast and jumps out of the water flopping around. He hits the lid and scares the crap out of me when im sleeping. Is there anything i should do?

Oh i also removed one of the decorations yesterday because he keeps cutting himself when he "freaks out."

water parameters (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite)?

do some water changes. also what tank size, fish size, tank mates, etc.

Good call and taking the decore out. But oscars are really freaky at night. Tankmates will bump one of my "O's", and the Oscars will freak out.
He just might be salking. Oscars do that from time to time.

thanks for the fast reply. At the moment it is only my Oscar (about 6"), and i just added a juvie Red Devil last night. He was acting weird before i added him. its a 125 gallon.

yea lol i just bought him yesterday and he already ate one of the minnows i had in there now he keeps messing with my plecos.

okay i figured it out. i was watching him today for a while and he is seeing his reflection, he is fighting with him.

is there anyway to stop this or should i just leave him be? i thought about putting black poster board instead of the coral background. would that help?
