hi i got a oscar about 6 inches and its been fine but have noticed last couple of days it has been hanging around bottom of tank alot and today didnt eat usually first to eat any ideas????

Check the water, test the ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.

Do you keep a light on the tank on for prolonged periods of time? Are you over-feeding?

Oscars have a tendency to become unactive and lay on their sides when something changes or when they're stressed. Did you move any decor around or have a lot of movement around the tank? Does he have white stringy poo or a swollen stomach even though he hasn't eaten? Also, what have you been feeding him?

it may have a disease have u noticed any different with the look of the oscar like the eyes swelling up or small white dots on the scales of the fish

My Oscar looked dead for two days. I tested the water and everything was good and I did a water change anyway. It didn't help though. He wasn't eating either. I finaly figured out that my dog had been going right up to the tank and barking at him while we where not home and it was scaring him. Anything like that going on near your tank? Oscars play dead when they are scared or pouting. How long have you had him?

tank is very active but never seemed to matter. have not seen any stringy poo.
feedin mix of flake, pellets like hikari gold and some veggi pellets

i have not seen my dogs scaring the fish the tank is to high for them i have had him prob 4 months he looks the same as when i got him
