hey guys, just jointed this evening, been watching videos on youtube from monster, awesome stuff.

i have a 150 gal tank with two one year old tiger oscars 4", 4" red tail shark, striped raphael catfish, and a pleco.
so far so good with my live plants, but ive heard oscars distroy them? what do u guys think? nice site by the way

Are you doing proper water changes? What are you feeding them? 1 year old Oscars should be twice that size. I don't think the oscars will eat the plants, they'll just dig them out constantly and if you strap them to rocks they'll just shred the plants.

I think it's a typo. How could year old Oscars be 4"? I mean, even if the water changes aren't up to par they'd still get up to at least 7" before waste accumulation shut down their systems, right?

the oscar will rip every last plant apart:p i learnt the hard way lol

i was gonna say the same thing. i bought my oscar when it was about and inch. i have had him for like 4 months maybe 5 and hes atleast 6 inches. i feed mine chiclid gold pellets and one a week feeder fish. my oscar also ate all my plants so i use fake ones now

My first O grew to 13" in one year of powerfeeding and heavy water changes and my new wild O had passed the 11" mark with normal care and nitrAtes below 20ppm within a year.

ChevyIke, how often do you feed your Oscars? How much water do you change every week? Do you check your nitrAtes and keep them low for proper fish growth?

that doesn't even look like 150. look at the length and he says it's 4 inches think about how many u can fit in that length. that's like a 29gllon or something
