Hey folks I keep my tank at 7.0Ph but I have to use neutral reg to get it that way. My tap water comes out of the faucet at about 9.5 and drops to 8.0 after a 24 hr ageing (KH is 3.5). I would really like to stop spending $$ on neutral reg but I want my Oscars to be happy/thriving, I was wondering if I were to slowly raise the tank to 8.0 (so I could just use aged tap) by doing several WC's over the course of a week if they would be good 2 go in 8.0 ish water. Thanks all!

I think a steady ph is better than having to change it all the time. Acclamate to your tap water they will be fine.

u so lucky, i wish my pH is higher(around 8). In Queens NYC the pH of the tap water is around 6.

I agree with that. I've been keeping Oscars for over 10 years and never have I adjusted the PH always let it be what it was out of the tap and never had any problems with doing that.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it, 8.0 won't bother them. If you'd like it a bit lower you could add some natural buffer like aquascaping with driftwood, rather than adding artificial buffers...but 8.0 isn't too high for them.
