oscars and severums with a bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think the question shoud be would my bichir be ok with o´s and sevs, first of all wich size are they and what kind of bichir do you have? upper or lower jaw? because sevs and o´s will grow faster and might look at the bichir like a big worm and if the bichir is full grown and the others are snack size...

If the o´s and sevs are not snack size (or vice versa) you should have no problem with one eating the other, the problem your going to have is getting the bichir enough food because they are slow eaters and the other guys are freaking fast, so if you have the time and patience to target feed the bichir then your ok. :)

What type and size of bichir? I had a large ornate with oscars and severums no problem. Currently have two senegals with severums and an aro, again no problems. Severums aren't that aggressive, it will be if the oscar is big enough to try and eat it.

Make sure they are fairly close in size. Other than that, it should be fine. Stick with the smaller bichirs unless you are planning to get a bigger tank for them.

I have a senegal with an oscar in a 90. I dont even bother to target feed anymore, he learned if he wants to eat, he better go to the top like everyone else.

Fine for now depending on the size off the fish , but you will defently have to upgrade to at least a 150Gal tank for them all ..

Should be fine as long as all fish are similar in size. Just make sure the bicher is getting it's share of it's food.

they will get along as long as the oscar is not big enough to eat the bichir if it is a small juvenile
