What do you guys think ? I just got 4 little baby oscars..so cute ! Anyways.. I already have a severum ( in with my angels) , I was wondering if they would be okay together in the same tank.. they are the same size. The tank is a 70gal.. I don't plan to keep all 4 oscars..I will see as they grow if everyone is going to get along or if 2 will go. But if you think the severum would be okay with them now.. I would add it to the tank. Open to suggestions.

They'll be fine for now. :)

But, as you know, once they start to grow problems will arise in a 70 gallon tank with four oscars and one severum ;)

I know that.. but I'm not keeping all 4 oscars.. They are only 1-2" right now.. really small.. I just thought that if they grow up in the same tank together..chances are they will be okay when they get bigger.

Severums are docile cichlids. The sev wont have a problem with the Oscars. But after awhile the Oscars will grow bigger than the Sev and there will more than likely be aggression.

yep you should probably leave it with the angels. it'd do better with them than the oscars

Id try it personally. I have a Severum and for the most part, even when hes mean, hes no threat.

You never know without trying. You obviously know to keep an eye on things for a while...

I've found the biggest reason they seem to be able to co-exist in most cases is because Severums are definitely smart enough and fast enough to stay out of the Oscar's way :-) After awhile the Oscar just considers him a non-threat. You should probably know that 2 Oscars (with or w/out a Sev) in a 70 g tank is overloard though. I know they're small now but by Memorial Day the Oscars will be anything but small.

I agree w/ this. It wouldn't work in the long term. A 70g is enough space for 1 adult oscar. A 6' tank would be fine. I see a lot of people keep them together in large tanks.
