Oscars arent boring at all their so active and kind of funny to watch i have 1 red and 2 albino reds and its so funny to watch them when they get bored they're always moving my airstones. the only problem is i can never keep nice oscars. they seem to always be cut or something and their in a 6 foot tank. my one oscar sticks his head out of the water when i go to feed him but lately he sticks it out to far and freaks out and the other oscars freak out too and splash water all over the place. i end up soaked.:irked:

No way! They're the least boring and most interactive of all fish, very close in temperament to a furred pet as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't have fish if I didn't have my Oscars-love em' :-)

Ya i gave up on plants too. i once heard about a guy that had a really nice well planted tank that i guess looked amazing and he wanted to add a fish and saw the oscars, he knew some stuff about them but didnt know they ripped up everything so he took one home and i guess he loved that fish but in two weeks it completely destroyed all the live plants.

oscars boring!!! they like waterdogs mine are really cool as they will always come and greet me when i walk near the tank. my oscars even know to recognise my phone and immediately pose for the camera =]

I've managed to secure the base of my fake plants under rocks, which makes it a lot harder for my 10" Tiger to rip them out.

Or get hanging plants, they try to move those as well but they can't.
Fun to watch, he'll take a leave and swim as fast as he can, but stays in one place!

I love my two Oscars!!! Great fun to watch... pictured too the left- Front guy is LeRoy back one is Monita....

A tip for ppl who are having problems with fake plants been dug, get some aquatic silicon and glue the same substrate in your tank around the base and then whenever they move them around they will always look planted.

oscars are cool fish, mine will pose for the camera, and even come up to the glass when i hold the tape measure out.... he is just curious but it makes it easier to measure lol

but for the most part he is a lazy fish, lots of personality but not much agression
