My oscars hate me it seems! Anytime I put my hands in the tank I get bit:irked: . It kinda pis*es me off that they do this:screwy: . I have had them since they were very small. You would think they would recognize their owner. Has anyone else had this problem? Any serious injuries?

My oscar has never biten me and it's up to 11-12" long. Had it's since it was 2". Never even attempted to bite me even when I pretended my finger was a worm.. lol.

It happens to a lot of people. You just happen to have a more agro Oscar who is defending his territory against you OR just gets a little over excited at feeding time. :nilly:

Hand feeding an Oscar when young into adulthood will often bring about biting later. They associate your hand with food and are only fish.
Give him a break. He probably doesnt think long enough to go. "hey thats his hand, i should be careful"

Your Oscar doesnt hate you. He's just a fish. ;)

Dont take it personal. Just use a tank divider or net or something to ward him off when you need to get into the tank.

Consider yourself lucky it's only an oscar. There are far worse fish to be bitten by. (rhom, wolf fish, fahaka).
My dovii has drawn blood from me twice. I now use a divider when I do water changes.

when i had my oscar, the only time they would bite me is when i point my finger rite in there face.thinking the round point of my finger is a pellet i believe.

but another red devil that i had also bites and trys to bite{finger .hand arm, anything]while doing water changes.crzy devil

Mine came out of the water and knocked the bag of Bio-Gold out of my hand, creating a mess. My largemouth bass drew blood.

My Oscars have never bitten me but they do get pretty excited when its feeding time.
When I do water changes they hide in the corner and pout.

The only fish that gets me on a regular basis is my female convict. Hates me, I swear!

Never had blood drawn, though.
