hello everybody, this is my tiger and red O's, they been acting weird for a couple weeks now, at first i thougt they hated each other, and as i can not sex them never thougt of them as a couple, the tiger is a little bigger than the red, at first (couple weeks ago) the tiger was acting pretty agressive towards the red, but no really damage so i left them toghether, now its been a couple days and they are not figthing anymore :nilly: they are cleaning this rock togheter, and the red O keeps shaking in a funny way to the tiger
anybody has breed oscars, and can give me advise if this is bredding :) and if it is what is the best way to proceed with eggs and everything OMG i am:screwy::grinno::drool: and.. which one could be the boy/girl!!

thx

its hard to say from the pic i had a pair of albinos that spawned a few times . the farthest thay made it was to wigglers the first time then they ate them all every spawn after that was just lay eggs fertilize and eat them. you may have to pull eggs and put thhe rock there on in a seperate tank. same temp and water as the pair are intreated with methilin blue. but this time i would let them go and see what happens

Not surprising, often the linebred fish don't make great parents. Take angelfish for example.

Sure looks like pre-spawning to me, keep us posted.

I couldn't tell who is the male and who is the female. If you could post a pic of the vent i could probably tell. They breed like normal cichlids. Its always best to let the parents take care of the eggs the first time. Sometimes when i pull the eggs on the first spawn they stop laying. So just let them be and see if they can raise them on their own. If you want to pull them, get a 5g or less tank. Then fill the tank w/ water from the breeding tank. Then add mythlene blue, directions are usually on bottle, to stop fungus. Then it will take 3-4 days for the eggs to hatch, then another 3-4 days for them to become free swimming. Start making some baby brine shrimp. They still feed on their yolk sac for 2-3 days after becoming free swimming. Then start feeding small amounts of baby brine shrimp a 4-5 times a day. You can see their little orange stomachs :D. After two weeks you can try microworms or maybe daphnia.

That is soo kool, I was reading online a few days ago that albino tiger oscars and a regualr tiger oscar can breed also so I would think that your red oscar and tiger oscar would not have issues breeding . keep us posted please I have a couple small oscars that I do hope they are a male and female they are only 3-4 inches long I would say just little ones so I have a long way to go before I know for sure ... but best of luck to ya =)
