So what happened yesterday ....my Oscars spawned .....everything was going normal no fighting and Oscars protecting their eggs...but today when i woke up i saw my Oscars were fighting and they both were badly beaten up by each other.....So i separated one from the other..... I just want to ask that is this a normal behaviour of oscars after spawning and is it alright that i separated them....since it's my first time so no experience at all.... any suggestion..idea ????

In nature all breeding cichlids must be prepared to defend eggs and spawn, so spawning triggers the production of hormones that heighten aggressiveness.
Due to this heightened state, without predators to defend against, cichlids will often turn on each other, especially in tanks smaller than a normal sized breeding territory, which in many cases is 4ft by 4ft (250 gallons, or much larger).

so what should i do ??

If they were mine, I'd remove the less attentive of the pair (or at least separate the tank with a strong divider), and keep it in a separate tank, until fry were old enough to be removed.
