alright so i got 2 oscars from some guy that got rid of them at my lfs, i know for sure the albino is a female not sure about the red tiger, he had them in a 55 g since they were small and now they are about 9 inches and i have them in a 125. ive had them for like 3 months and they have been best friends always swimming within inches of eachother. i feed them frozen foods (silversides, shrimp, etc.) and today i bought some feeder goldfish as a treat and i left the room. about 2 hours later i came back and noticed that they were all beat up and couldnt figure out why and when i was about to leave the room i saw them lock lips and and start shaking. any q's why they would do this , are they pre spawning? is it the live food? any help would be greatly appreciat3d

The feeder Goldfish beat the crap out of your Oscars!
:woot: I am sorry I could not resist! :woot:

I have experienced some of my cichlids fighting before breeding, weirdos. I would usually put a divider for a couple of days and they would go back to normal.

How do you know your albino is a female ?

They are pysicly impossabile to sex.

And if they are locking lips and fighting i would only asume that you had 2 males and they are fighting to find out who will be the dominent one !

I have had Oscars for years and have also had similar problems they will sort out who's gonna be boss then the agression towards one another should die down abit but the dominant male will still take nips and the weaker one especially when it comes to feeding as the dominant male wil want to eat first !

the albino has laid eggs before

Have you seen the albino actually lay eggs i mean no dis-respect ! you have asked a question and i think it's important we get all the correct details so we can find out what the problem is your having ! So you have actually sat and watched the albino spawn ?

I'll still put it down to dominance.

ya i saw the albino gaurding the eggs and it had a stringy piece of somethin hangin out of it, lol they arent really fighting anymore but sometimes they will shake there fins whenever they are near eachother and the red tiger oscars' fins are a cream color instead of black
