Oscars gonna breed?

I posted a thread bout my oscars fighting. and Razman pointed out they are probably just courting... when i got back from my parents place today i went n checked them out n noticed one was really fat... so i wanted to be sure and took them out to sex them by checking out their vents. and yessir the fat one is female and the other one is a male...
so i wanted to put out a piece of sate but i had nothing appropriate so i had an ashtray lying around that i scrubbed clean and then boiled with salt and put that in upside down.... Im hoping thats good enough for them.

i do have a question though, once they lay the eggs can i remove the slate after a while when i am sure they are fertilizeD? or should it stay with the parents. I want to put them into another tank to ensure other fish dont eat them. if i do this how to i incubate them? and raise the fry?

um first off this shouldnt be in the madagascar section! SA/CA!

but anyway it is ok to take the slate out because the parents usually eat it for their first few spawns! but if you take them out put and low powered pump blowing on it and or bubbler! to keep them oxygenated and if you want to go all out put some fungus meds in to keep away fungus!

if you keep it in you could still put in a pump cuz somtimes the fish dont fan all them enough but usually do! just IME
