i have a oscar i bought at 2 inches 5 months ago he is now 8 inches he was growing like a bad weed and now he has seemed to have stopped has he reached his limet? how long of time does a oscar grow?

Well I have 2 oscars, 1 red and 1 tiger. They went from 1 inch to about 5 inches in 1 month! They usually average at about 1 inch of growth a month from what I was told. But it really depends on alot of variables, like diet, water, tank size and many other. If I were you I would check my water and do some research online, I also read they usually slow down at around that size. What size tank is your O in?

Well just watch the growth an make sure you feed your O a good diet of pellets an frozen food, I fern mine hikari cichlid gold an frozen bloodworms as a normal diet.

On the average an Oscar grows an inch a month untill around 8-10 inches then slow down. There can be alot of thing that can change this rate. Also some O's like Lutino Oscar (commonly labeled as albinos) will grow in spirts.

as long as your water is clean and your feeding a good pellet your O is definitely NOT done growing, they usually slow down a bit at this size and bulk out a bit more but Oscars can easily reach 12-14in with some reported getting as big as 16in
