Oscars head gone black???

:eek: Well noticed today that my young oscar has got a black patch over one half of his head..was never like this before??..any ideas..Its only on one side. He is fine in himself and feeding and behaving as normal..here are some pics

i dont know for sure, but when my 2 oscars were smaller they had gotten some black pigmentation which does happen frequently. albeit mine happened on their fins, but it could be the same thing. it doesnt appear to look unhealthy but im not a vet.
hopefully its just color change, but none the less still very unique looking.

I have read about this happening. Apparently sometimes if a fish hits itself a nerve will become damaged and that area will turn black. It's a neurological injury. Don't ask me how it works, but I've heard about this happening in the past. It does NOT affect the fish's health otherwise. I have seen it in a few fish including firemouths, convicts, guppies, loaches and so on.
