I want to create a breeding pair (or two) in a newly set-up 180 gallon? How many do I start with? How many can I keep long term in a 180 Gallon (72x24x24).

I would start off with 6-8 juvies then let things work out on there own from there. You could keep 4 adult Oscars in a 180 as long as its heavily filtered and clean on a routine basis.

I would agree but make sure you want only oscars in there. Nothing wrong with it but lots of possibilitys with 180g of water.

You can put 2 pairs in there, but I would just go with 1 pair. And get some dither fish.

Id get about 6-8 oscars so they can pair off and Id add a couple of silver dollars and a pleco. The once they pair off take the other oscars out and the pleco so he wont eat the eggs.

wats the point of adding the pleco if your just going to take it away later that make more waste than they clean up so its pretty pointless
