shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ok, from being on this forum ive discovered im a dumbass and have overstocked tanks, and the reason i havnt had a problem until know was because my fish wernt big enough to give me trouble. i have been giving away fish, but i dont want to get rid of my oscars if i can avoid it. would two oscars be ok in a 90 gal tank with a 5" jack dempsey? the oscars are about 8 or 9 inches now, and i know i might have to get rid of the jd later, but would it be ok for now? would just the two oscars survive ok in the 90 gallon tank?

yes....the two "O's" are good in that tank. the JD is fine in there also, it'll help clean the bottom of the tank. IMO

Im glad you realized your error and didnt just blow off what people were telling you like I used to do at first. In my opinion a 90 gallon is the very very minimum for 2 Oscars and when they get bigger I would think about possibly upgrading. Also Oscars are very messy fish especially when they get big so get alot of filtration. Good Luck.

i have a fluval 405 filled bio rocks and scrubbies, and also an emperor 350 with sponges in it for filtration before the biowheels. i have another emperor 400 i can put in if necessary. would this setup be ok with adult oscars? i just dont have the money or space for a bigger tank and would rather give away an oscar than have them die from poor conditions. the bigger you upgrade the more exponential the costs are.

I have a 90, one O, one JD, one con and three silver dollars with two canister filters.

I wish I had your stock list though. Two Os would have been awesome.

Just keep testing your water and keep up with your water changes

keep the o's keep the jd, water changes, gravel vac.

Right now it'll work out, but it really depends on aggression. A 4ft tank is pretty small for two 12-14 inch fish. If they are both male, I'd guess you'll have to separate them. If they get along, great. Like everyone else said, just keep the water clean.

Good luck.
