Where can I net up some young Oscars in FL? How is the coloration on these guys?

For young ones, it's not worth the hassle. You're better off buying them close to home. The whole idea behind keeping w/c FL Os is to strive for the elusive 14 inchers.

Don't forget the long drive back to Mass. Lots of big fish is a hassle for the drive back. Not to mention watching it grow up into a 14 incher.

So, where are the Oscars in FL? NOT at a farm or LFS. If I wanted one from a store... well... let's just say I could have had 50 by now.

Suprisingly I don't know if oscars are that widespread in FL? could be wrong though.

I wouldn't bring it back unless it's big. Big fish are only a larger hassle in that you need larger container, etc.

Coral Reef park has a few, but the location I pm'd you "Glades Range" always has a few baby Oscars..Last Time I was there there was a pair with a good 40-50 2"ers.... I agree with Oddball though, the whole point is usually to obtain the BIG boys...their coloration is nothing special, regular dak brown to black with the normal stripe variations that change as they grow... I dont know about this weekend, but I know Ill be there next Sat...if I see any I could catch you ome and hold them on the side for you ;)

I never fish by MIA , too much traffic and construction lately....either way...there are Oscars everywhere....best bait I suggest...bread.
