Hi, I have 3 tiger Oscars that have recently laid eggs 5 times in the last 6 months, they are darker the white so look fertilized, they protect them well and then after 2 days, nothing happens and they eat them

Any ideas?

Oscar eggs look different when fertilized compared to other fish. It's more white when fertilized. You can watch the video below

If you just want fry I would take the eggs and hatch them your self. If you have a bucket you can throw them in there with an airstone. If you really want to go the extra mile put some methylene blue in there to keep fungus from spreading around. Are there any other fish in the tank? Sometimes they eat them if there are other stressors.

Ok thanks, no just three Oscars on their own, all three guard the eggs, then after a couple of days they give up and eat them

Hello; Add a bubbler near the eggs. Yes to the MB. At least you will know if the eggs are fertile.

The third wheel could be your issue as well. Anything can happen. I have seen videos of angel trios spawning, but that is unusual. Typically a third fish complicates spawning.
