Hi all, need some advise.

I have a 3 feet tank with some Oscars mix of black and albino, 2 red tail shark and 1 black ghost knife. Recently I have been observing my Oscar being attacked (fins being chewed off and dying off). I quickly isolated the albino guy and managed to save him.

Today my black oscar also observed to be the same case. Im wondering who could be attacking the Oscars. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Simply put, you've got a bad mix of fish in a tank that's way too small, hence the in house bickering and subsequent injuries.

A single oscar shouldn't be anywhere near a 3ft tank, let alone "some."

You need to reassess your choice of fish/tank size. Otherwise it's going to be much of the same I'm afraid.

Ok will upgrade the tank immediately. Do u think I should have decorations in the tank or leave it plain? Currently I have plants and driftwood.

Breakages in line of sight are always good in a tank with cichlids, though no guarantee that there still won't be aggro.

And if the tank size is too small anyway, as in your case, then breakages in line of sight are pretty pointless because the "troublemakers" are still in each others faces all the time.

Your red tailed sharks could even be the culprits here. They are renowned for being jerks.

Agree with esoxlucius
for those 3 species to coexist in harmony, a "minimum" tank of 6 ft would be required.

And even that can be pushing it! I have 2 oscars and an L095 in a 6ft 125g tank and I would not put anything else in with them as they will kill anything else
