nice oscars congrats on the eggs sorry i dont know the answer to your question

i have got others in the tank but the oscars keep them at the other end of the tank.
i plan on putting a tank dived in.

will the oscars look after there young?
how often will they lay eggs?

thanks for any advice!

They will probably eat the babies after a week or so, could be sooner though, since they are first-timers...

thats interesting, does that meen in time they may look after the fry????

i dont know if its the first time they have ever had eggs ive only had them 5 days, the shop i got them from said they came in as a breeding pair but he had never seen it!

i am so happy they to see it for myself :headbang2

the only fish i have had young from in the past is Fairy Cichlid !!!

With experience they will have fewer errors, but they all eat the fry at some point.

I always like parents fight against a common evil and raise their first hatch. I find it leads to more sucess later. they hatch in 3-4 days, become free swimming in another 3-4 days, and they'll feed off their yolk sac for yet another 3-4 days :D try feeding them baby brine shrimp. It would be safe to remove them after they start eating baby brine shrimp. A 10g would work well. Make sure you use a sponge filter.
