I heard that its hard to keep Oscars in a tank with live plants because they rip them up and destroy them but i have four 4 inch Oscars with 3 live plants in my tank and they seem fine.

Will they dig them up once they get bigger or should I be alright with them?

you'll find trouble once they get bigger, I had a really nice amazon sword in with mine as they were just little guys, they're at about 4 to 6 inches now, and i now have fake plants.

They will do it when they are bigger.. Oscars love to dig and rearrange the aquascaping in your tank. Get some fake plants and you should be fine. :)

My big O's don't mess with Amazon Swords or java moss.

Considering your stock they may have other things on their mind then tank arrangments:nilly:

Good point though, java moss or fern that's tied to a rock or wood might work.

i thought only pacus destroy plants

Well, not ONLY pacus, but yes pacus will eat plants. My pacus even eat anubias which is supposed to taste gross. Oscars don't eat the plants, though. They just like to redecorate. If there is a plant where they don't want a plant, they will dig it up and move it. More often than not, they don't like the plants.
