I was at the local petland the other day and they had a bunch of 6"+ Oscars in a uncovered planted tank, the plants were for sale.

My question is aren't Oscars jumpers? and won't they eat the plants?

Any Monsters can jump, mine doesn't seem to have that type of temperament.

Alot of fish jump when they are scared, I lost a red oscar that way. Oscars done really activly eat plants but alot of them enjoy ripping them apart to see if the can find any food they missed.

Yes they jump and they sure love totear apart plants probably wont be at the petstore long enough to get settled in and start tearing it up

Welcome to MFK chochiss!!!!!:woot:

Yes oscars will jump and destroy plants. Unfortunately some businesses do not pay enough attention to properly housing their livestock. You should say something to one of the employee's I am curious what response you would get :naughty:

i had oscars and placed them in a tank with plants and what they did pissed me off. First they ate all the 4inch crays which were about 5 crays (NEVER HAD A CHANCE). Then instead of one of them eating the Crayz the other oscars then had a tag team match and all that was left was claws and anntenas worst move i ever did with oscars. so i said to myself ok ill let it slide but when they messed wit the plants they had to go. they started digging up the plants and destroying the roots of the plants. so i bought a 125 gallon tank and all the isseus of the destuctive fish i had were resolved

THE END
