Hello, i own 5 oscars atm, all young ones, i have a red tiger, red, albino red tiger and 2 wild oscars. I have been doing a lot of research after i lost my original oscar, and almost everyday i find a new kinds of oscars, is there a webpage or anything i could buy to get to see all the different types of oscars? this is to choose which ones to put in my 300gallon when its finished.

Regards Tadz

there are others such as veil tailed and wild variations but those are what you will most likely be choosing from

Jeeze five oscars huh, that must be a pretty big tank
2 in seperatwie tank as they are to small ( the wildd ones ) and 3 in a 55gal atm, but in the process of builing a 300gall for them, they need there room lol, Mosstly the red tiger as he is a grumpy fish, he has his moods where he likes to attack the angel fish ( around 3 times the size of him lol )

Thanks for the plug. :)

Wild O
Tiger O
Red O
Lutino O
Albino O (very rare)
Lemon O
Tiger veil tail
Lutino veil tail

That's about all I can think of. You may also see something called a blueberry Oscar but these are dyed which as we all know is a horrible practice which should not be supported.

Hope that 300 will be finished soon good luck with it.

so i guess i have lutino oscar? i thought albino fish have red eyes...(mine does) does anyone have a pic of a pic a true albino oscar because when i google it, albino and lutino come up as the same fish...

Most if not all "albino" oscars in the trade are Lutinos. Genetics and Geneology are what come into play. Albinism is a rare gene trait in a vast majority of species, and exceddingly common in some others. tbh 'm not sure if scientists have been able to identify the DNA codeing associated with Albanism or not.

simply if your Oscars have any pigmentation to them, in all likelyhood you are an owner of a Lutino. Pigmentation is a fairy accurate gauge to the difference between a lutino and an albino. Though I would love to see a picture of a True Albino Oscar myself.

I have also seen gold, copper, platinum and ghost variations also. They are rare but every once in a while a true (not stained ) oscar with a cool oddball coloration will show up.
